Infrastructure + Get AlertsEveryone knows that dogs are a man’s best friend. That’s why it was so heartwarming to see animal rescue workers return the favor last week when they pulled a stray dog from a sewer in Santa Monica, California.
Video of the rescue surfaced over the weekend and had over 629,000 views on YouTube as of early Monday morning.
The disheveled pup, later nicknamed Bitty, appeared frightened; he was shaking and covered in dirt after apparently seeking shelter in the concrete tunnel during a storm.
“When we received the call for help, we were told that there had originally been two dogs, but one drowned earlier in the day during a rainstorm,” Annie Hart, founder of Rescue from the Hart, told the Huffington Post. “With another storm on its way, we rushed to the location to try and save Bitty in time.”
Bitty is now busy trying to manage his newfound fame having made a public appearance in Pacific Palisades over the weekend. According to reports, the pup is currently living with a foster family while awaiting adoption.
