Jacques Whitford Acquires NAWE, EcoCheck
North American Wetland Engineering LLC (NAWE) and EcoCheck Inc. of White Bear lake, Minn., have been acquired by Jacques Whitford of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The employee-owned consulting firm has more than 45 offices across Canada, the United States and internationally.
HOBAS Names Simonson Sales Division Manager
HOBAS Pipe USA has promoted John Simonson to sales division manager. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s technical education program, meeting the growing demand for assistance and training in fiberglass pipe design, as well as application and installation requirements. Simonson has more than 25 years experience in construction, trenchless rehabilitation, tunneling and project management.
Kuffer Joins Plastics Pipe Institute
Bruce G. Kuffer, P.E., has joined the Plastics Pipe Institute as manager, P.E. market development, for PPI’s municipal and industrial division. Kuffer has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan Tech, and brings more than 35 years of technical experience in trenchless technology to his position. He will focus on expanding trenchless applications for municipal, rural, marine, forced main and other applications. Kuffer previously worked as an engineering consultant and as head of business development for Instituform Inc.
Water Associations Release Utility Management Report
Six associations representing the U.S. water and wastewater sector, in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, have released Findings and Recommendations for a Water Utility Sector Management Strategy. The report is designed to advance effective utility management practices, and concludes a 12-month effort focused on excellence in water and wastewater utility management. Participating associations included the American Public Works Association (APWA), American Water Works Association (AWWA), Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), and the Water Environment Federation (WEF), along with the EPA. CULTEC Names Marsh & Moore New Representative
CULTEC Inc. has named Marsh & Moore of St. Augustine, Fla., as its new manufacturers’ representative for Contactor and Recharger stormwater systems throughout Florida and Georgia. Marsh & Moore was founded in 1972 by Mark Marsh and David Moore, and later joined by third principal Richard Bohl.
Black & Veatch Receives Global Water Awards
Black & Veatch, a global consulting and construction company, was named Water Company of the Year and was part of the team recognized for the Wadi Ma’ in Water Treatment Plant in Jordan, named Desalination Plant of the Year. The presentation was made during the 2007 Global Water Awards ceremony in Barcelona, Spain.
