NUCA Names Officers
The National Utility Contractors Association has named new officers for 2009-10. They are: Daniel K. East, president of Cone Construction Corp., New Mexico, president-elect; Ryan Schmitt, president of Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Florida, senior vice president; Alex Paris III, president of Alex E. Paris Contracting Co., Pennsylvania, treasurer; and James A. Barron, owner and president of Ronkin Construction Inc., Maryland, secretary. Ronald A. Peterson, vice president of the Pipeline Assessment Division, TWS Technical Services, Missouri, received the NUCA Associate of the Year Award. James R. Giannelli, president and CEO of RMCI Inc., New Mexico, received the Ditchdigger of the Year Award.

Dennis Ryan, City of Davenport (Iowa) water pollution control manager, was appointed to the position of interim public works director.
Adam Smith, village manager of Jonesville, Mich., received the Village Manager of the Year Award from the Michigan Rural Water Association.
