Meeting Goals and Realizing the Vision

When our vision becomes a reality, we experience that feeling of success, knowing we can reach our goals.

When our vision becomes a reality, we experience that feeling of success, knowing we can reach our goals. This sets us on pace to expand our vision and set new objectives.

I’m honored to experience this success as head of NASSCO. Carrying out our mission — to set the standards for the rehabilitation of underground utilities — has been a lot of work. We’re far from finished, but I’m enjoying watching us hit our goals and redefine new ones.

One of our key goals is to increase our membership, both in numbers and in breadth of representation. I’m pleased to report that in the past year, we experienced 18 percent growth in membership. Networking followed by education and training remain the top benefits of membership. Today NASSCO has an excellent balance of members:

• 48 percent professionals and municipalities

• 32 percent contractors

• 20 percent associates.

A NASSCO membership means dedication. It shows that you are committed to the trenchless technology industry and that you believe in adhering to quality work. Members tell me often how their NASSCO membership is like the Good Housekeeping Seal of approval. It is respected, and it signifies quality. It’s a badge of honor they are proud to promote.

In addition to growth in membership, NASSCO has met many other goals, thanks to the help and determination of the committees. These goals include:

• Introducing TAG-R (Trenchless Assessment Guide for Rehabilitation) software.

• Introducing the NASSCO Inspector Training and Certification Program for CIPP.

• Publishing the Styrene Task Force Report.

• Supporting industry initiatives, such as National Utility Contractors Association research on the positive economic impact of water and wastewater infrastructure investments.

• Providing testimony on Capitol Hill on confined-space safety issues.

NASSCO is reaching new heights and if you’re not on board, I invite you to join us. There is no better time than now to be a member. Your membership will help you achieve your professional goals and make your vision a reality.
