Portable Camera System Is Designed for Going Remote

Remote pipeline inspections call for cameras that have long cable range and reduce the number of setups.

The K2 Series portable CCTV pipeline inspection system from CUES Inc. has a 1,200-foot-long, high-strength cable designed to resist abrading and fraying. “We worked for almost two years to develop a light but durable cable with a minimum of 1,000-pound break strength,” says Paul Stenzler, vice president of sales.

“The K2 Series is very portable, yet the video cable offers a long range of pulling ability that enables technicians to inspect multiple sections with only one setup.” Along with 1,200-foot cable capacity, the video cable reel has automatic payout, variable speed control, automatic level-wind, and emergency shutoff. It works with any CUES camera transporter and pan-and-tilt zoom camera.

“It operates a wide range of lightweight, compact, steerable and non-steerable transporters with cameras that can inspect from 6- to 120-inch sanitary and stormwater lines,” Stenzler says. It is available with the company’s Granite XP survey software.

The system mounts onto a wide range of vehicles or trailers, or stands alone with large-diameter tires and a collapsible cart to enhance portability. “You can put it in a pickup truck, then deploy it quickly to reach a remote easement where a truck can’t go,” Stenzler says. “A quick installation/removal kit is designed for those who want the system truck-mounted, but also want to use it as a portable system.”

An ergonomically designed, fully integrated, handheld control operates all camera, transporter, reel and camera-lift functions, and is available wired or wireless. “The compact, integrated control facilitates ease and speed because you don’t have to operate multiple controllers,” Stenzler says. “It lets the operator move into a position that’s comfortable, or even take shelter in bad weather.”

The power control unit comes with a 10-inch, high-resolution color monitor. The control can be snapped into any of four positions to help reduce sun glare. For information, call 800/327-7791 or visit www.cuesinc.com.
