AWWA, ASME-ITI Issue ANSI Standard

The American Water Works Association and American Society of Mechanical Engineers Innovative Technologies Institute have developed a risk and resilience management standard for water utilities. The J100 standard, created in response to Hurricane Katrina and other recent disasters, is designed to help water and wastewater utilities identify potential threats to U.S. water infrastructure and prepare for or mitigate damage. A detailed summary is available at www.awwa.org/standardj100.

Fluid Metering Releases Product Catalog

Fluid Metering Inc.’s latest catalog features 32 pages of fluid handling solutions, including ChloritrolT, a valveless metering system for maintenance-free injection of liquid sodium and calcium hypochlorite. Other products include the CTS chemical treatment system for metering water and wastewater treatment chemicals and the PDS-100 programmable dispensing system that uses stepper motors to control delivery from 500 nanoliters per dispense up to 2 liters per minute continuous flow. EPA Awards Kansas, Iowa Grants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded a $970,000 grant to Derby, Kan., for sewer improvements and $291,000 to Boone, Iowa, for a sewer project. The Kansas project will construct approximately 7,050 feet of 36-inch sewer pipe and 17 manholes. The Iowa project will address residential sewer backups that occur during moderate to heavy rainfall by replacing undersized sanitary sewer pipe with larger diameter pipe.
