Everything water will be under one roof in June, as the American Water Works Association’s 2014 Annual Conference & Exposition (ACE14) is coming to Boston, Mass., June 8-12. Hundreds of service providers will exhibit, showcasing the newest and most innovative products and services related to the water industry. They will offer hands-on understanding and insight from pipes to valves, meters to hydrants, engineering services to tank-related products, security to wastewater treatment and more.

Pipeline Rehabilitation and Relining

3M - Scotchkote Pipe Renewal Liner 2400 100 percent solids polyurea formulation from 3M is NSF/ANSI 61 certified, BPA free (per EPA Method 1311) and contains no VOCs (per EPA Method 24). The applied material is tack-free in 10 minutes, and reaches full cure in 60 minutes, allowing for same day return to service. It can be applied on ductile iron, cast iron, steel and cement mortar-lined metal pipes, PVC and asbestos cement pipes ranging in diameter from 4 to 24 inches. It can be installed as a thin, corrosion barrier lining or as a high-build AWWA Class III or IV structural enhancement lining. AA Thread Seal Tape - Joint Wrap from AA Thread Seal Tape is used to protect ductile iron pipe joints from exterior corrosion. It is made of 100 percent virgin high-density polyethylene resins and is cross-laminated for added strength. Denso North America - Densyl Tape all-purpose petrolatum tape from Denso North America provides corrosion protection for pipes, flanges, valves and irregular shapes exposed to the environment and wet conditions. HydraTech Engineered Products - The HydraTite internal joint seal from HydraTech Engineered Products provides mechanical, trenchless remediation for leaking pipe joints. It is a proprietary rubber seal that spans the joint and is held in place by stainless steel retaining bands. The retaining bands are hydraulically expanded and locked in place using a wedge lock design, which forms an airtight clamp around the joint, eliminating infiltration and exfiltration. Raven Lining Systems - Raven 405 100 percent solids, zero VOC polymer lining from Raven Lining Systems has ideal adhesion, low porosity and high chemical and abrasion resistance to provide corrosion protection in wastewater infrastructures. It can stop recurring inflow and infiltration, and ultra-high build properties make it ideal for overhead and vertical application. It can be used on new concrete to protect against corrosion and extend the life of the structure. Reed Manufacturing Co. - The DM2100 drilling machine from Reed Manufacturing Co. cuts or drills through cast or ductile iron pipe wall via the corporation stop inserted into the service saddle while under pressure. It uses Reed D series drill bits or hole cutters, and has a flip clamp on the star feed. It has a clearance radius of 27.5 inches. Its design pressure rating is 300 psi, but its operating pressure rating is 90 psi when drilling or tapping into pressurized mains. Tnemec Company - Series 22 and FC22 Epoxoline 100 percent solids epoxy linings from Tnemec Company provide thick-film layers of protection in immersion service, while special curing mechanisms allow the tank to quickly return to service. TT Technologies - The Mini Grundotugger trenchless plastic and copper service line replacement unit from TT Technologies digs small launch and exit pits at either end of the service line being replaced. A winch cable is rodded from the exit pit through the existing line to the launch pit. At the launch pit, the unit’s splitting expander is attached to the winch line. The winch is placed in the exit pit and is loaded into the unit. The expander forces the split pipe into the surrounding soil. Contractors can choose to pull in the new pipe directly behind the expander, or retrieve the split service first, then pull in the new service. Asahi/America - Chem Proline polyethylene resin pipe from Asahi/America is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61-G. Fittings are resistant to crack growth.
