The City of Tallahassee’s Your Own Utilities/Underground Utilities received the 2015 Governor’s Sterling Award from the Florida Sterling Council.

Shawn Massey and Douglas Stevenson were honored as June 2015 Employees of the Month by the City of Valdosta, Georgia. Both men work for the city’s Stormwater Division. Massey is a heavy-equipment operator, and Stevenson is a crew leader.

Jim Hafner received a Public Health Award from the Anoka County Board in Minnesota. Hafner, the Stormwater and Wellhead Protection manager for the City of Blaine, was honored for his “dedicated and passionate leadership in the protection of local water resources throughout Anoka County.” Hafner also serves as the steering committee chairman of the Minnesota Cities Stormwater Coalition.

Norma Jean Mattei was named president-elect of the American Society of Civil Engineers. She will be inducted at the ASCE Annual Business Meeting in October 2015 and will become president of the 163-year-old professional association in 2017. She will be the third woman to hold the position.
