Andrew Bisesi, general supervisor for the Passaic Valley Water Commission, was honored recently after he used CPR to revive a customer who had suffered a heart attack.

A general supervisor of the Passaic Valley (New Jersey) Water Commission was honored last week for helping save the life of a customer who had suffered a heart attack in January.

PVWC Commissioner Chrystal Cleaves presented Andrew Bisesi with a plaque honoring his life-saving efforts on March 18. By administering CPR, Bisesi was able to revive the victim, who had collapsed inside the PVWC office in Clifton, New Jersey.

The website NorthJersey.com reported Bisesi was working in the building when the man collapsed in the hallway. He and several other employees assisted.

“It was teamwork,” said Bisesi, who applied CPR and two shocks from the defibrillator to get the victim’s heart beating again. “He wasn’t breathing and had no pulse.”

The man was then taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, and later underwent a quadruple bypass, according to the report. Bisesi has since been in contact with the man’s daughter, who said her father was recovering.

“It’s very rewarding, no doubt,” Bisesi said. “When he’s well enough, I’d like to meet him.”

Bisesi is the department head at PVWC in charge of the distribution system. He manages all fieldwork, including maintenance, repairs and meter reading.
