Their unique properties and long service life have allowed geosynthetics to grow in use in the construction business across environmental and civil applications in a number of different types of projects from landfill closures to municipal water supply. Despite their ubiquity, geosynthetics differ greatly in strength, flexibility, and overall composition depending on the manufacturing process. They can be hardened and made into large-diameter pipes, or even spread into sheets with built-in studs to facilitate the flow of fluids. Some differences are by choice, designed to meet the needs of a specific application. Other differences are economical, meant to save money on the assembly line.

A Nov. 16 webinar by AGRU America will introduce viewers to the company’s array of geosynthetic products and show the results of construction projects that have utilized the products.

During the webinar, viewers will:

  • Learn about the history of AGRU America and its manufacturing process.
  • Discover the benefits of using the flat-die cast process (what AGRU America uses) versus the blown film process.
  • Explore the geomembrane systems produced by AGRU.
  • Learn about AGRU’s quality-control standards, accreditations, and testing.
  • Find out how multiple AGRU products can be combined into the cost-effective Integrated Drainage System.
  • Gain a better understanding of ClosureTurf, a product manufactured in partnership with Watershed Geo.
  • Receive an overview of AGRU concrete protection liner, geonet, geocomposite, geosynthetic clay liners, large-diameter pipe, and fittings.
  • Have questions answered during a Q&A.

Nick Rauh will lead the webinar. Rauh has a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Nevada-Reno. He started his career working as a project engineer for a geosynthetics installation and general contracting company. He has since been working as a technical manager for AGRU America in the Mountain/Midwest region as well as providing technical support for the mining market. Rauh has extensive knowledge in the geosynthetics industry, from project design through installation procedures.

The webinar will start at noon EST on Thursday, Nov. 16 and last for about 60 minutes with 20 minutes of Q&A. Visit http://agruamerica.com/webinar/ to sign up.
