Achieve Easier, More Reliable Water Sampling

Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is a rural seashore community on the eastern Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, best known for an amazing coastline and folklore. Their water distribution system includes 35 km of pipeline and 1,208 service connections fed by Bay Bulls Big Pond. Since water quality is a primary concern for the Regional Water Authority, sampling was previously done inside of homes, businesses and on hydrants.

Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s recently installed this Hydro-Guard blow-off sampling station (B.O.S.S.) to make water sampling easier, more consistent, and produce more reliable data.
