Smaller combination cleaner offers power, capabilities of larger units

Combination sewer cleaners are often great money savers and timesavers for municipalities. But the units have traditionally been big and bulky, making it difficult for technicians to use them in tight spots, such as highly populated urban areas. That is, until recently, as compact versions of power combination cleaners have begun to hit the market.

Vactor’s newest combination sewer cleaner — the iMPACT — is smaller than the company’s other combination cleaners, but it’s designed to not sacrifice any of their power. It offers versatility and the ability to maneuver through tight spaces to allow communities to protect, clean and repair their infrastructure. It is also engineered for optimal operator comfort and control. Features contributing to the ease of use include an IntuiTouch control system, superior vacuum performance, a low-maintenance Jet Rodder water pump, Modul-Flex design, quiet engine design, high ground clearance, low water fill point, twist-and-lock pipe restraints, a hose reel that can rotate up to 180 degrees, precise digital hose footage counter and water tanks designed to offer long-lasting corrosion resistance.

Replacing the outgoing Vactor 2103, Vactor iMPACT was designed to be a more economical choice for smaller-scale applications. Its small footprint and maneuverability makes it suitable for cleaning catch basins, sanitary/storm sewers, laterals and lift stations. Like the company’s larger 2100i, the iMPACT offers the IntuiTouch control system that delivers operator ease and efficiency during all sewer cleaning functions. Inside the cab, operators can gain control of all operational systems by employing one-touch controls for quick PTO activation and engagement. Outside the cab, operators find a rotating control panel with up/down adjustment that features a touch screen and glove-friendly tactile buttons, providing immediate data.

The unit’s Jet Rodder water pump delivers smooth flow at the nozzle for general cleaning and root cutting, offering a powerful “jackhammer” action to break up tough blockages. Its positive displacement vacuum is suitable for pulling material long distances. Powered by the chassis engine, the blower is driven hydrostatically, allowing independent control of speed while boosting productivity and reliability.

“We’ve experienced tremendous success and have received positive feedback from customers when we launched the Vactor 2100i a couple of years ago,” says Josh Malmassari, product manager for Vactor. “It was a no-brainer to integrate IntuiTouch to the midsize iMPACT for customers who are looking for a solution that offers maximum operator control and productivity without making a big impact on their budget.” 800-627-3171; www.vactor.com.
