Sewer Equipment Co. of America, manufacturer of sewer cleaning equipment and supplies, announced the relocation of its manufacturing facility. The company has moved from a 30,000-square-foot facility in Chadwick, Ill, to a 120,000-square-foot facility 30 miles away in Dixon, Ill.

Growth of the company’s RamVac and Mongoose Jetters product lines prompted the relocation. The 71-year-old business has 38 dealers nationwide that provide sales and local product service support.

Dan O’Brien, third generation owner of Sewer Equipment Co. of America, led the relocation initiative. “The new facility will allow for improvements in safety and productivity,” he says. “It offers more floor space, 12 overhead cranes with 15-ton ratings, state-of-the-art paint facility, enhanced quality control test center, expanded inventory, upgraded engineering facilities and world-class customer meeting conference rooms.”

The new facility will also benefit customers and distributors. “Customers and our distributors will continue to see advances in the development of our equipment, an expanded product line, expedited delivery service due to on-site inventory, and our continued commitment to quality,” O’Brien continues. “Customers and distributors will be in a position to compete more productively, safely and with more financial strength. They will have the opportunity to be leaders in their market place.”

The larger facility means the company will be able to meet future growth and development demands. “The relocation allows for expansion of the company meaning more jobs and opportunities for folks in the greater Dixon area and at all of our dealer locations across the country,” O’Brien says. “The sewer, hydroexcavating and drain cleaning categories are truly worldwide markets. The global demand for this type of equipment continues to grow and this new facility helps us to compete on that scale.”

The family-owned business prides itself on successfully meeting customer needs. “Our mantra has always been ‘Best Products, Best Local Support,’ ” O’Brien says. “This philosophy has allowed us to be a successful manufacturer since 1941. We work hard to make the best equipment that we can — and we are continually trying to improve and perfect. In addition, we have partnered with our dealerships that offer the finest service support in the business.”

The company has been able to expand into a new facility despite a bad economy that is still felt by many businesses across the nation. And O’Brien says he knows the keys to continuing that success. “To be the best in the business, you have to keep pace with the changing customer demands, keep an eye on the improvements in technology, have a facility that can house the production and engineering capacity to continue to grow and service the increasing machine population.”
