The City of Tacoma, Wash., continues to prove themselves as a global leader in clean wastewater technology, through cutting-edge chemical and biological methodologies, and regulatory processes, as well as hosting the second annual 2013 Wellspring Conference Oct. 24-25. 

The conference aims to open an informed dialogue about the various issues facing clean-water technology, the impact of regulations on business, and develop solutions to propel further growth in this industry. 

The City of Tacoma is recognized around the world as being at the forefront of stormwater management and clean-water technology. And along with their associates in The Water Partners of Tacoma, the EDB of Tacoma-Pierce County, Port of Tacoma, and the Russell Family Foundation, they are honored to host the Wellspring Conference for the second year in a row. The city has a longstanding and pioneering commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge technology and is a global hub for education and solution optimization for clean-water technology. 

The 2013 Wellspring Conference will feature internationally recognized innovators, industry experts and regulatory officials of clean-water technology including: 

• Ben Grumbles, president of U.S. Water Alliance, a nonprofit educational organization based in Washington, D.C.
• Joel Baker, director of the Center for Urban Waters; director of the Washington Stormwater Center and TAPE; and Port of Tacoma chair in Environmental Sciences, University of Washington Tacoma
• Chris French, chairman of the Government Affairs & Regulatory Committee, SWEMA & Filterra Bioretention Systems, from Richmond, Va.
• Nat Scholz, research zoologist and manager of NOAA in Seattle
• Gai Xiaoping, deputy director of the Institute of Environmental & Comprehensive Design of the Fuzhou, China Planning Design & Research Institute
