Two well-known U.S. companies – GapVax and Orange County Choppers – have teamed to commemorate GapVax’s 25th anniversary.

GapVax Owner Gary Poborsky commissioned a specialized custom chopper motorcycle to celebrate the company’s silver anniversary. The cycle, made by the well-known fabrication shop Orange County Choppers, was unveiled Nov. 15 at the company’s Johnstown, Pa., headquarters.

The connection happened by chance, as on an earlier trip to New York, Poborsky found himself staying at the hotel across the street from the Orange County Choppers New York shop. After walking around in the showroom, Poborsky asked to speak with a technician about fixing up a trike he had at home. The trike had been a project bike for his son that was never finished.

Once he started telling them about the trike, the team at Orange County Choppers agreed to finish the project for him. Orange County Choppers Founder Paul Teutul Sr. and Poborsky found they had much in common, swapping stories about the good old days when they first started their businesses. Poborsky, starting with one septic truck, helped clean up after the Johnstown Flood, while Paul Sr. starting his business from the back of a pickup truck.

The fabrication of GapVax’s custom chopper was featured Saturday, Jan. 4, at 9 p.m. EST on the CMT Network as part of the new Orange County Choppers Series. Paul Sr. will also be on hand at the GapVax booth (#6004) with the GapVax Chopper at the 2014 Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo International Feb. 24-27, 2014, in Indianapolis, Ind.
