The 2014 Tnemec Tank of the Year has been awarded to Midland, Texas, for its intricate and creative oilfield-themed motif. For the second year, Tnemec opened up voting to the public in its annual Tank of the Year contest. After receiving 14,694 votes, Tnemec whittled down the tank nominations from 235 to a dozen front-runners.

After carefully considering each of the top tanks, Tnemec chose Midland's 2-million-gallon composite tank, which is located in the middle of the T-Bar Well Field in Midland. The tank provides water to an expanding area already full of production wells, pipelines, and several oil and gas service facilities. The water tank was completed in less than 12 months and painted with Tnemec’s high-performance fluoropolymer finish for water tanks, Series 700 HydroFlon.

The tank will be featured in Tnemec’s 2015 water tank calendar, with a photo on the cover and in the month of January. All other runners-up will be featured on the following months.

The People's Choice award was given to Lebanon, Mo., which receieved the most votes. The following tanks, in alphabetical order, round out the Top 12: Artesia, N.M.; Carpentersville, Ill.; Chatham, Ontario, Canada; Columbia, S.C.; Fairborn, Ohio; Kansas City, Mo.; Mount Prospect, Ill.; Normal, Ill.; Pekin, Ill.; and Plainview, Texas.
