Ann Arbor, Michigan, is home to the 2016 Tnemec Tank of the Year.

Since 2006, Tnemec has celebrated the innovative and creative uses of its coatings on water tanks with the annual contest. Each year, tanks of all varieties from across the U.S. and Canada are narrowed down to determine the most impressive coatings projects in the water tank industry.

Following online voting that determined the People’s Choice winner from over 240 nominated tanks and committee selection that established 11 other finalists, Ann Arbor, Michigan was deemed the winner. The elevated tank's artwork depicting native birds and fish was selected from designs that were entered in the city-sponsored "Art in the Sky" contest. The design was completed using an exterior coatings system from Tnemec, including the fluoropolymer finish Series 700 HydroFlon for color and gloss retention.

Houston County, Georgia, received the most online votes and was named the People’s Choice winner. The other runners-up were water tanks in Champaign, Illinois; Garnavillo, Iowa; Gulf Shores, Alabama; La Porte, Texas; Laurens, South Carolina; Lumberton, North Carolina; Olathe, Kansas; Ontario, California; York, Nebraska; and Durand, Michigan.
