The SeeSnake nanoReel N85S industrial inspection camera system from RIDGID is made for ultrasmall lines, ranging from 3/4 to 2 inches. The 9 1/2-pound system with 1/4-inch antikink cable can navigate tight turns and push up to 85 feet into a line. The unit measures 13.25 inches long, 6.6 inches wide and 17.5 inches tall.

“This isn’t your typical drain inspection camera,” says Josh Sooy, senior product manager for underground technologies. “It is for long runs in very small-diameter lines.” The 0.62-inch camera uses sapphire lens technology (510 x 496 NTSC) found on larger inspection systems and includes a built-in 512 Hz sonde.

“The built-in sonde allows you to go into tighter turns, but still be able to locate it when you find the problem,” Sooy says. “One area that’s special for this camera is leak detection — being able to visually identify problems inside smaller lines and locate exactly where you need to dig it up. Applications include water supply lines, drain lines, fire sprinklers and boiler tubes.”

The system’s drum cartridge can be removed from the housing assembly and exchanged with other drums to fit specific applications. Options include the L100/L100C drum for inspecting up to 100 feet of 1 1/2- to 4-inch lines, and the D30 and D65S for inspecting up to 65 feet of 1 1/2- to 3-inch lines with tight turns.

The inspection system can be used with all SeeSnake monitors and recorder options as well as the microEXPLORER digital inspection camera and the CA300 inspection camera. 800/769-7743; www.ridgid.com.
