An Industry First

TAG-R software helps industry professionals evaluate projects and choose the technology that delivers the best results

I saw this day coming long ago, and I’m glad it’s here. NASSCO is proud to announce the availability of the Trenchless Assessment Guide for Rehabi-litation (TAG-R), the industry’s first interactive software for the evaluation of sewer rehabilitation technologies.

Developed with the Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) of Louisiana Tech, NASSCO is offering this new software as a stand-alone product and as part of its new Inspector Training and Certification Programs. Born as part of our mission to set standards for the rehabilitation of underground utilities, TAG-R is a Windows-based software designed for use by city professionals, engineers and contractors.

TAG-R is extremely easy to use. Engineers simply enter the parameters of a rehabilitation project. The software then evaluates performance data on a number of technologies, including access-point-to-access-point pipe renewal, spot repair methods, and manhole rehabilitation methods commonly used for renewal projects.

Next, the software evaluates the perceived risk associated with each technically compatible renewal method, based on the project environment, the technology’s track record, the project risk and more. The software fills the gap of information the engineer needs in order to understand the attributes of the many products and processes available today.

Information about the technologies’ strengths and weaknesses were provided by the suppliers of the products through their engineering and field operations teams. All information has been peer reviewed within NASSCO.

Once the TAG-R software recommends a technology, the user must apply good engineering design to meet the specific requirements of the project. A well-written specification is fundamental to a successful project with or without the TAG-R. We believe the TAG-R will greatly improve the chances for that well-written specification because it is based on facts.

TAG-R is also included in the NASSCO Inspector Training and Certification Program for CIPP. Attendees receive a DVD of the software along with the training.

As a stand-alone product, TAG-R is available to NASSCO members for $100 and non-members at $195. To learn more about this or other NASSCO products, training or education, visit www.NASSCO. org or call Andrea Carter at 410/486-3500.
