Waterblasting tool cleans tanks from the outside

Technology leads the way when it comes to safely and efficiently cleaning tanks and vessels without confined-space entry.

Because of the hazardous nature of confined-space entry, many companies have developed technologies and methods to safely clean tanks and vessels either remotely or via human intervention. When mud, sludge, sand, scale, waxes, sediment and other difficult-to-clean deposits need removal, human intervention is typically still necessary. That’s when safety becomes critical.

That’s why Jetstream of Houston, a manufacturer of industrial high-pressure waterblasting equipment, parts and accessories, has introduced the H3Orbiter 3D waterblasting tool for tank and vessel cleaning. The tool provides a safer environment for the operator by eliminating the need to enter confined spaces.

“For effective ‘no-entry’ cleaning of tanks, vessels, and confined spaces, the Jetstream H3Orbiter tool gets the job done and delivers unmatched coverage and cleaning ability to remove even the thickest deposits,” says Ronnie Felts, product manager at Jetstream of Houston. “The rotation of the nozzles and body allows the tool to perform a complete 360-degree clean at pressures up to 22,000 psi. The rotational speed is controlled by a maintenance-free magnetic brake.”

Flow rates on the H3Orbiter are controlled through four manifold options (high, medium, low and extra low flow) providing 10 to 80 gpm. Optional kits provide the necessary tools and replacement parts for service and repair in the field, reducing downtime and eliminating shipping fees. Jetstream of Houston’s HHTC nozzles are the preferred nozzles for the H3Orbiter tool. These stainless steel nozzles feature 1/4-inch NPT connections and are available in four length options from 2 to 24 inches, with nozzle extensions that provide a larger, more effective cleaning pattern. A maintenance-free magnetic brake is used to control rotation speed. An optional pulling ring is available, while its small entry diameter enables access to more tanks and vessels.

For applications in which internal structures or debris may interfere with cleaning, the H3Orbiter can be fitted with a cage centralizer and extensions up to 24 inches to protect the tool without hindering the spray pattern. 800-231-8192; www.waterblast.com.
