Thompson Pump and Manufacturing Company’s 4JSC series pumps are a preferred method for backing up wastewater lift stations all over the country. These high-efficiency, solids-handling bypass pumps are customized to provide automatic bypass pumping during any emergency event. The Thompson Pump 4JSC can be permanently installed at municipal lift stations, in lieu of a diesel generator, to provide 100% redundancy to the primary, electric-powered pumps. Natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes and ice storms can leave communities without electricity for long periods, and the 4JSC will protect the lift station from experiencing a sanitary sewer overflow.

With a wide range of flow and pressure capabilities, the Thompson Pump 4JSC is the perfect solution for lift stations that experience inflow and infiltration or need maintenance. These pumps incorporate the exclusive Enviroprime System, allowing them to prime automatically from a dry state and do so by evacuating only air from the suction piping. This proven priming system design shows Thompson Pump’s commitment to the environment by preventing any wastewater from exiting the pump while operating. In addition, the 4JSC will operate intermittently, allowing the pump to start only when needed, resulting in lower fuel consumption, less on-site fuel storage required, and reduced operating costs when compared to traditional generators that operate continuously.

One of the more popular 4JSC pumps is the 4JSCC-DIS-4LE2T-DC powered by the Isuzu 4LE2T diesel engine, which provides ample horsepower to Thompson Pump’s 10-inch self-cleaning impeller while meeting Final Tier 4 emission standards utilizing a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst. This 4JSCC model is designed for maximum flows of up to 1,180 gallons per minute, maximum total dynamic heads of 170 feet, and 3-inch solids handling. Thompson Pump also offers a SCADA interface for dry contact alarms, the Silent Knight, a sound-attenuated enclosure, solar-powered or 115 VAC powered battery chargers, combination frame/fuel tank with double-walled containment, welded mounting tabs to secure the pump to a concrete pad, and many other customizable accessories. Like all Thompson Pumps, the 4JSCC is a reliable, robust bypass pump built for longevity and when permanently installed at a lift station, it's a clear symbol of emergency preparedness.
