The TeaCup has provided industry leading vortex grit washing for over 30 years. A lot has changed over that time for wastewater treatment plants. As any WWTP operator knows, one of the most undesirable changes has been the increasing use of flushable wipes. Wipes combined with other typical nuisance materials like rags, strings and cellophane create big problems for all kinds of treatment processes. Grit systems with moving parts or narrow clearances are particularly vulnerable to the impacts.
The all-hydraulic operation and wide clearances of systems engineered by Hydro International like the HeadCell, Grit King and even TeaCup were already better equipped to prevent ragging than grit technologies with moving parts or smaller clearances. The OpTeaCup takes it several steps further. Oldcastle minimized the profile of internal fasteners and connections, and expanded the openings to provide a clear 4-inch-diameter opening from top to bottom.
The improvements didn’t stop there. The new internal geometry allowed the elimination of the need for actuated valves, fluidizing water, or solenoids, reducing the number of elements that could require maintenance. Additionally, a new poly-coated orifice plate allows easy replacement and flexibility in your organics management strategy.
