PEOPLE/AWARDS

Brown and Caldwell, an environmental engineering and construction firm, appointed Adam Evans as vice president and area leader for its Texas business. Evans will oversee projects involving stormwater, municipal water and wastewater.

The First Team Volkswagen project received a Stormwater Clean Award from Roanoke County (Virginia). County officials say First Team and its grading contractor, Jeff Holt of Holt, took the land-disturbing activities seriously on the project by properly installing and maintaining the required erosion and sediment controls and stormwater management measures.

Partners for Places announced a grant award of $54,240 for the city of Newport (Rhode Island) to support residents in the North End neighborhood with tools to participate in critical municipal discussions that affect the neighborhood. The primary focus of the project will be to engage residents to discover nature-based solutions to flooding caused by stormwater runoff.

The Arbor Day Foundation presented the Upper Susquehanna Coalition (New York) with a 2020 Arbor Day Award. The coalition was honored for planting more than 10,000 native trees in northern Pennsylvania and southern New York in one year, thus slowing the flow of stormwater and catching sediment and nutrients before they wash downstream.

Advanced Drainage Systems (Ohio) received a Drainage Division Project of the Year award from the Plastics Pipe Institute for its work at the Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal in North Charleston (South Carolina).
