Through the development of specification guidelines, technical manuals, webinars, videos and other resources, NASSCO committees are making a major impact in setting standards for the assessment, maintenance and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure. Below is a list of NASSCO committee-set goals for delivery in 2023/2024.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS 

  1. Advance NASSCO’s federal policy recommendations through meetings and other communications with congressional leaders and federal agencies
  2. Conduct one in-person and three virtual D.C. Fly-In events
  3. Create an infrastructure package funding roadmap
  4. Establish government relations in Canada

HEALTH AND SAFETY 

  1. Develop safety video on the topic of styrene-monitoring equipment
  2. Develop safety video on the topic of confined-space entry as it pertains to sanitary sewer manholes
  3. Manage third-party study on styrene levels in cured-in-place-pipe cure water as it relates to any impact to municipal secondary treatment systems

INFRASTRUCTURE CONDITION ASSESSMENT

  1. Launch PACP Version 8.0
  2. Launch “PACP for Asset Management – Evaluating Condition Grades” online course
  3. Launch “PACP for Asset Management – Assessing Risk” online course
  4. Create an ADR support work group

INFILTRATION CONTROL GROUTING

  1. Present a two-part test cell webinar
  2. Design course and related materials for self-paced, online ITCP grouting course
  3. Develop specification for manhole grouting
  4. Review/update grouting specifications
  5. Research root inhibitor additive for acrylamide grout and determine requirements for applicators

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS 

  1. Translate PACP Version 8.0 into Spanish and Portuguese
  2. Conduct two technical webinars in Spanish
  3. Deliver first PACP class in Portuguese
  4. Translate ITCP-CIPP manual into Spanish 
  5. Deliver first ITCP-CIPP certification course in Spanish

LATERAL AND BUILDING PIPE 

  1. Update lateral and building pipe specification guideline
  2. Complete Lateral Manual of Practice 
  3. Launch NASSCO’s “Building Sewer and Drain Inspection” program

LEADERSHIP 

  1. Participate in ongoing discussions amongst NASSCO members on the challenges and opportunities in managing people.

OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE 

  1. Develop siphon cleaning and assessment guidelines
  2. Update 2014 NASSCO Sewer Pipe Cleaning Specification Guideline
  3. Update 2014 NASSCO CCTV specifications
  4. Develop Content for bypass pump online training
  5. Launch drain cleaning certification program

PIPE REHABILITATION 

  1. Deliver a white paper on features and benefits of varying pipeline rehabilitation technologies
  2. Develop an educational video on spray-applied pipe liner 
  3. Update section on UV curing in CIPP specifications

PRESSURE PIPE

  1. Present pressure pipe assessment webinar
  2. Develop pressure pipe rehabilitation video 
  3. Develop pressure pipe assessment video 
  4. Produce a webinar on pressure pipe cleaning using a pigging process

SEWER STRUCTURE REHABILITATION 

  1. Complete update of the 2013 Manhole Rehabilitation Performance Specification Guideline
  2. Continue updates to ITCP manhole rehabilitation document
  3. Develop guidance document on surface prep for brick sewer structure rehabilitation

SOFTWARE

  1. Roll out PACP Version 8.0 data dictionary and documentation
  2. Complete PACP certification tool 
  3. Develop PACP Version 6.0 to Version 7.0 and Version 7.0 to Version 8.0 mapping to assist those transitioning from one version to the next 

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

NASSCO has paused the Workforce Development Committee temporarily as it works to build partnership with other organizations and associations to have a greater impact on filling the skilled trades gap.
