Singer Valve, a leading manufacturer of control valves, received an innovation award for their new Total Automatic Purging System (TAPS) by Flow Control Magazine. The winners were determined by reader votes.

TAPS is designed to flush tough pipes and improve water quality without compromising fire pressure and ensuring minimal loss of non-revenue water. It uses an automatic control valve and battery-operated timer to control the time, length and pressure required to flush a distribution system effectively.

The award took into account the successful deployment of 50 TAPS units for the St. Bernard Parish in New Orleans, after severe damage to their water distribution system caused by Hurricane Katrina that led to significantly poor water quality.

“The Singer Valve Total Automatic Purging System was chosen for its superior heavy duty design, AWWA valve compliance and its ease of programming which would ensure consistency and not require extra man power among other benefits,” says Todd Burnett, Coastal Process LLC president.
