The Submersible Wastewater Pump Association (SWPA) will host a Pumping Systems and Controls Training seminar April 17-18, 2013, in Chicago, Ill. The two-day seminar includes educational presentations from the industry’s leading experts. This program is based on the systems approach to lift station design, operation and maintenance, which establishes performance optimization by assuring that components operate efficiently and effectively in concert with each other.

The keynote presentation is entitled “The Systems Approach to Lift Station Design, Construction, Operation and Maintenance.” This tutorial will answer the question “what is the systems approach?” and will describe how it can benefit the design engineer, specifier, manufacturer, distributor, sales representative, contractor and the end user. The session will also explain Life Cycle Costing (LCC), energy conservation and related topics as they impact the systems approach. Featured speaker Ernest C. Sturtz, P.E., is an industry veteran with over 30 years experience in the design, implementation and troubleshooting of water and wastewater pumping station products.

Attendees will hear and interact with more than a dozen experts in the same place, at the same time, and tap into their extensive experience and wide-ranging expertise.

The seminar combines two training programs into one comprehensive two-day forum. Day one will be a general session for all attendees. Day two will break out into two separate tracks: controls training and pumping systems training.

The seminar will include information beneficial to consulting engineers, designers, distributors, product and technical managers, engineering managers, sales and marketing managers, product specialists, wastewater operations and service personnel.

SWPA will be issuing continuing education credits and certificates of completion for either one- or two-day attendance.

Attendees receive a companion text with session summaries, speaker bios and PowerPoint presentations. They also receive a CD with the “Submersible Sewage Pumping Systems (SWPA) Handbook” and “Start-Up and Field Check Out Procedures Manual for Submersible Sewage Lift Stations.”
