Coating Line Offers Fast Return to Service

When you maintain a system that supplies clean water to thousands, downtime is the enemy. When you have to make major repairs to a part of that system, products that are easy to use and have characteristics that ready them for use quickly are ideal. Raven Lining Systems launched two updates to its AquataPoxy line for just those situations.

The newest additions to the AquataPoxy brand, the AquataPoxy 90 (epoxy lining) and AquataPoxy 190 (red oxide epoxy primer/finish coating), were designed to supplement Raven Lining Systems’ existing portfolios for the potable water market. This includes a fast return to service in as little as 72 hours.

“What makes these products unique to this industry is they were designed to be some of the cleanest and safest protective linings on the market today,” says Tripp Ishmael, Raven Lining Systems’ vice president of research and development.

AquataPoxy 90 is a NSF/ANSI 61 potable water-certified, two-part, fast-curing, direct-to-metal, anti-corrosive epoxy coating. It offers a 21-day recoat window and can be used as a stand-alone coating or as a surface-tolerant primer for several different topcoats, including epoxies, polyurethanes, polyureas and other UV-stable topcoats. It is environmentally friendly to apply, as VOCs are less than 100 g/L, which meets California air-quality requirements. It is approved for minimum-size tanks greater than 25 gallons and pipes larger than 10 inches in diameter.

AquataPoxy 190 is a two-part, fast-curing, NSF/ANSI 61 certified, direct-to-metal, anti-corrosive epoxy coating that can be used as a blast-holding, direct-to-metal primer or as a stand-alone finish coat. It offers a 21-day recoat window for topcoat application. It can be used as a stand-alone coating or a surface-tolerant primer for several different topcoats, including epoxies, polyurethanes, polyureas, and other UV-stable topcoats. It is available in iron oxide red. It, too, is environmentally friendly, as VOCs are less than 166 g/L, which meet California air-quality requirements. It is approved for tanks greater than 5 gallons and pipes larger than 4 inches in diameter.

According to Ishmael, the AquataPoxy brand has been around for over 30 years, delivering environmentally safe, long-term corrosion prevention for potable-water infrastructures. The success of this Raven Lining Systems brand has spanned applications from storage tanks, water treatment plants, aquariums, and tunnels to the locks on the Panama Canal.

“Raven’s products are some of the most trusted in the industry due to the rigorous NSF/ANSI 61 testing for certification purposes,” he says. 800-324-2810; www.ravenlining.com.
