The EK7651H from Makita is the world’s first four-stroke power cutter and has several advantages over two-stroke models. For contractors, the MM4 four-stroke EK7651H is a big step-up from their current two-stroke models, as MM4 eliminates the top drawbacks associated with current two-stroke power cutters: The requirement to mix two-stroke oil with the fuel, and the risk of piston seizure due to improper mixing. 

Makita MM4 engine technology has several advantages over existing two-stroke engines for unmatched cutting performance and convenience. MM4 requires no two-stroke oil, which simplifies operation and prevents piston seizure due to improper mixing. MM4 also eliminates the need for separate mixed oil/fuel can. The EK7651H delivers easier starts with the automatic engine decompression valve, which is engineered into the cam gear to reduce pull start force by 40 percent. 

Another point of difference is the pressure-compensated carburetor with vented choke plate, which adjusts automatically to prevent flooding. For improved handling, the integrated aluminum wheel kit retracts when not in use to prevent unexpected movement at idle. Additional benefits include lower noise at 97.2 dBA, smoother running for continuous operation, and lower fuel consumption at only 0.45 gph. 

The EK7651H will be available in mid-October, and does not include a blade.
