Voting is now open for the 2026 People’s Choice Tank of the Year contest, presented by Tnemec Company, Inc. For 20 years, Tnemec has been putting its stamp on the water industry by celebrating the innovative and creative use of its coatings on water storage tanks through its annual Tank of the Year contest.
Since 2006, the Tank of the Year contest has provided a platform for water professionals and communities to share the stories behind their tanks and showcase the structures that have become local landmarks across North America. The public is invited to select their favorite tank and crown the 2026 People’s Choice by visiting tankoftheyear.com.
“A water tower is often one of the most recognizable landmarks in a community, but behind it is an essential service that helps that community thrive,” says Kevin Morris, director of water and wastewater sales at Tnemec Company. “People’s Choice gives communities an opportunity to celebrate their hometown pride and recognize the tanks that have become part of what makes their community home.”
Online voting is open through Oct. 16. Voters may submit one vote per active email address. After submitting a valid vote, voters will have the opportunity to request a 2027 Tank of the Year calendar by completing a calendar request form.
The tank receiving the most votes will be named the 2026 People’s Choice winner on Oct. 19. The winner will join 11 other finalists in consideration for the 2026 Tank of the Year, which will be selected by a Tnemec committee of water tank enthusiasts and announced Oct. 23.
All finalists and nominees will be featured in Tnemec’s 2027 water tank calendar, with the Tank of the Year winner featured in January.
For 20 years, Tank of the Year has recognized water storage tanks coated with Tnemec products and celebrate the innovation, artistry and engineering that transform these functional structures into community landmarks. As Tnemec celebrates this milestone anniversary, the company said in a statement it is grateful for the continued support of the water industry and the communities and industry professionals who have embraced this unique tradition over the past two decades.
