The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection awarded $5.1 million in grants to several towns and agencies. Receiving grants for stormwater-related projects are:

Lee County’s fertilizer education and outreach program, Fertilize Smart, received a Stormwater Excellence Award from the Florida Stormwater Association. Recognized in the Public Education Effort category, the program represents a decades-long commitment to educate county residents and visitors about the impact fertilizer can have on clean water and waterway preservation.

The York County Rail Trail Authority’s Oil Creek restoration effort received a Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The project centered on stabilizing sections of the creek using restoration methods intended to slow stormwater flow, reduce streambank erosion and improve ecological conditions within the floodplain corridor.

The city of Columbia received an Outstanding Public Improvement Project Award (Small Community category) from the Mississippi Main Street Association. Columbia was recognized for the final phase of a recently completed stormwater and streetscape revitalization project.

Stormwater Erosion Specialties hired Scott Hutson to help support the needs of municipalities and other entities throughout the St. Louis region (Missouri/Illinois). Hutson will help develop proactive maintenance plans for stormwater basins, shorelines and drainage areas.
