Time is important. And there are several aspects of pipe fusion that take it — including loading pipe, cooling fused joints and moving the machine from one fusion site to another. Now an innovative fusion machine from McElroy reduces all of those time-takers — the Tritan 560.

The Tritan 560 offers a combination of rugged utility, operator safety and new technology to boost efficiency and reliability in the field. With its full 360-degree rotation and boom that can raise, extend and curl the carriage to approach and load pipe, the Tritan eliminates the need to top-load pipe into a fusion machine.

“As the needs of our customers continue to change in size and scope, McElroy is committed to providing the world’s most dependable pipe fusion equipment to ensure that each job is done right the first time,” says Chip McElroy, president and CEO. “It’s always an exciting opportunity to see how the industry is evolving and discover how we can better meet the needs of the market.”

The Tritan 560 combines features from three of McElroy’s previous fusion models, including the rugged portability and technology of the TracStar iSeries, pipe loading capabilities of the Talon 2000, and the ability to meet the pipe where it lays, found in the company’s Acrobat QuikFit carriages. It can travel to and along the pipe where it lays, reducing or eliminating the need to pull pipe through the carriage in the field. With a full 360-degree rotation and a boom that can raise, extend and curl the carriage to approach and load pipe, it boosts job site efficiency and improves workplace safety by eliminating the need to top-load pipe into the fusion machine.

The Tritan’s bottom-loading carriage eliminates the need to lift pipe into the machine for standard fusions. The carriage is also fully removable and able to operate in a 2+2 or 3+1 configuration, in both a top loading or bottom loading setup. In confined spaces or in-ditch applications, the carriage can be loaded directly onto the pipe from above, minimizing the amount of excavation required under the pipe.

The Tritan 560 was designed with operator safety in mind. All functions are wirelessly controlled with the DataLogger — a touchscreen tablet that captures the most important information related to fusion operations in real-time. No second remote is needed, as all controls have been integrated into the DataLogger tablet, allowing a single operator to control all parts of the pipe loading and fusion process.
