A Click Away

NASSCO makes Specification Guidelines available to the industry at large by way of the association Web site

What began as a NASSCO member benefit nearly two decades ago has become a gift to the entire trenchless technology industry.

Since 1990, NASSCO has published Specification Guidelines for a variety of applications such as CIPP, fold-and-form, smoke testing, CCTV, cleaning, and more. Comprised of specifications submitted by NASSCO members, these guidelines were designed to give members a reference point from which to apply their own engineering judgment to specific sewer rehabilitation projects.

Copies of the SG-12 and earlier versions were provided to all NASSCO members as part of a membership package. Additionally, the updated guidelines were sold to members, first as a published document with 15 or so specifications, and then, years later, as a CD-ROM with more than 600 pages of specifications. Today, the Specification Guidelines (SG-13) are just a click away on the NASSCO Web site, available to anyone who wants them.

The desire to make the guidelines available to everyone in the industry led to this change. While NASSCO does not endorse or approve any product and directs users to the source of the specification for further information, the Specification Guidelines have an excellent reputation and have provided a helpful reference guide to many in our industry.

NASSCO intends to complement the input from professional engineers and experienced contractors, while advancing the trenchless technology industry. To see the complete list of Specifi-cation Guidelines and get a copy of your area of interest, simply visit www.nassco.org. The Web-based format allows for easy updates.

NASSCO members who would like to include their information or update information should contact Heather Myers at heather@nassco.org.

In addition to the Specification Guidelines, NASSCO offers a number of publications for the trenchless technology industry including a Manual of Practices, Inspector’s Handbook, and Jetter Code of Practice Manual. Visit the Web site to see the complete list of publications, many available in CD-ROM format. You can also learn more by visiting our booth at WEFTEC, Oct. 10-14, in Orlando, Fla.

Irvin Gemora is executive director of NASSCO. He can be reached at director@nassco.org. The NASSCO headquarters is at 11521 Cronridge Dr., Suite J, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
