The town of Clayton (North Carolina) hired Donald Perry as its engineering director. His most recent role was as senior stormwater infrastructure engineering manager for the city of Durham.


Jeffrey Netzinger was promoted to engineering and projects director for the town of Hilton Head Island (South Carolina). He was hired as stormwater manager in 2017 and will oversee the Stormwater, Public Projects and Transportation divisions as well as serve as the town’s designated engineer.


The Jenkintown Creek Restoration: Stormwater Retrofit at Alverthorpe Park in Abington Township (Pennsylvania) received the Environmental Stewardship Award during the 2024 Montgomery Awards. The project received the award from Montgomery County “for its unique approach to retrofitting stormwater infrastructure into an existing township park with minimal site disturbance. This excellent project, which resulted in water quality improvements, habitat creation, and environmental education opportunities, exemplifies the benefits of interagency cooperation and site-sensitive stormwater design.”


The city of Spokane received the Governor’s Award for SMART Projects from the Washington State Department of Commerce. The city was honored for its Cochran Basin stormwater improvement projects.


Six organizations received National MS4 awards from the Water Environment Federation. The awards recognize municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) programs for their innovative stormwater and green infrastructure programming efforts. Award winners include:

  • Phase I Overall: Anne Arundel County Maryland Department of Public Works, Bureau of Watershed Protection Restoration
  • Phase I Program Management: City of Dayton (Ohio) Department of Water
  • Phase I Innovation: Howard County (Maryland) Department of Public Works
  • Phase II Overall: City of Alexandria (Virginia)
  • Phase II Program Management: Detroit (Michigan) Water and Sewerage Department
  • Phase II Innovation: City of Kirkland (Washington)
